Vancouver is a major hub of international business and culture, and a unique combination of sea, sky and mountains. The Greater Vancouver Regional District (GVRD) has a population of 1.9 million and is expected to reach 2.3 million by 2006. The core population is concentrated in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond and Surrey, with the balance residing on the North Shore, in North Vancouver & West Vancouver, and along both sides of the Fraser River Valley in Delta, Langley, Abbotsford, New Westminster, Coquitlam and Maple Ridge.
